1. Keep all the Safety Equipments as per the SWR in good fettle and they must be be kept near the office of the duty SM. 

2. GR 3:36 - Strict compliance of the procedure in putting back signals. The new correction says that SM can put back a signal. But he should not alter the points unless he has advised the Loco pilot through a written memo and his acknowledgement received.

3. GR 3:38 - Setting of points against occupied line. For Stopping Trains points must be set against within the time span of 3 minutes of its Register. 

4. GR 5: 23 - Securing Stabled Vehicles with Hand Brakes, Skids and Safety Chains. Details must be recorded in the Stabling Register. PN should be exchanged with Section control and those PNs must also be recorded in the Stabling Register. 

5. Exchanging All Right Signal is a must from both sides. Tell Your Traffic Assistant that off - side signal must be given to stopping trains and Light Engines also. 

6. Maintain absolute cleanliness at the station and its premises. All the toilets must be checked occasionally. It is possible only where supervisory SS or SMR is available. If line capacity utilization is more than 85 percent, it would be better the non- supervisory in - charge SS ask for one day every week for completing supervisory responsibilities. 

7. When a road is blocked, ' Line Blocked' collar must be placed on the knobs concerned. while giving out HOC. this must be recorded in the station diary and Train Signal Register in Red Ink. 

8. when Power Block has been given. no AC Locos shall be given movement to that area or line or section. when giving out HOC, this must also be recorded in the Station Diary and Train Signal Register in Red  Ink. 

9. Remember that an SM, howsoever junior he may be, is also discharging supervisory responsibilities when a designated supervisor has not been posted there. You are a supervisor in all such occasions in the middle f Train Passing Duty. 

10. Finally about the current Safety Drive ordered by Railway Board. Every SM including Supervisory SS and SMR along with the Traffic Staff must do Crank Handing Practice of all points at their station one after the other every month.
