Q. What is
RESS?

ANS.  Railway Employee Self Service (RESS) has been
designed and developed by Centre for Railway Information System (CRIS). This is
an Employee Centric Application and has been designed to provide all the
information, which may be needed by a Railway Employee. Data shown through RESS
is captured from Integrated Payroll & Accounting System (IPAS) / Accounting
Information Management System (AIMS) developed by CRIS for Indian Railways for
all payments and Accounted. RESS is available in 2 versions viz. Mobile App and
Desktop version.

Q. What is
latest version of RESS?

ANS.
 
Latest version 1.1.7 (Beta) has been released on
2nd Sep 2018. RESS has been made available as Beta version only for Testing
purpose by Railway Employees. All data shown is provisional and cannot be used
as Legal purpose.
  
Q. What to
do if data shown is incorrect?

ANS.  RESS displays data as available in IPAS. All the
details related to Bio-Data, Family etc. have been entered in IPAS by
Pay Bill Clerk/Cadre clerk. Details like Appointment Date, Date of Birth, Name,
PAN, PRAN, AADHAAR etc. needs to be verified by Railway employees. In case of
any discrepancy in data, same needs to be corrected through concerned Pay bill
clerk.

Q. Can
Railway employee apply online for PF Withdrawal, Quarter Allotment etc?
ANS.  Facility has been made available to apply for PF
withdrawal through RESS. It is operational at RDSO only as a pilot test run.
Railway employee applies for PF withdrawal online, print the Application, signs
it and submit it to Sanctioning Authority. Status of Application is visible in
RESS. On successful working of online PF withdrawal by RDSO, same may be used
by other units.

Leave Application for Quarter Allotment will also be made available
.

Q. Whether
features like Pass/PTO, Grievances, Appeal, Leave, APAR/Self Appraisal, TA/DA
claim, Service Records, Seniority, Transfer Request etc. can be included in
RESS so that all are available in one platform?

ANS.  RESS is based on data available in IPAS, which
mainly focus on Financial attributes. Features like Pass, leave etc. will be
covered under Human Resource Management System (HRMS), which is being developed
in CRIS as a separate project.

Q. I have forgotten the password. How to
retrieve/reset it?

ANS.  Use "Forgot Password?" option in Mobile App
or Desktop version of RESS. Provide Employee Number, Date of Birth and Mobile
Number. Password will be sent on the Mobile Number.
  
Q. While
making New Registration, system shows "Invalid Mobile Number"
although I am entering my correct Mobile Number. What to do?

ANS.  Please check your Payslip to know whether your
Mobile Number is registered in IPAS. You may register your mobile number in
IPAS through your Pay bill clerk, if the same is not registered. You may also
enquire correctness of registered mobile number through Pay bill clerk.
  
Q. Why
salary slip is made available in RESS so late?

ANS.  Salary slip is shown after salary data is frozen
i.e. after Abstract preparation, which is prepared normally in month end.
  
Q. Why RESS
Mobile App gives “Connection Error” although my Internet is properly working.

ANS.  RESS has been made available as Beta version for
Testing of functionality by Railway Employees. Currently RESS is deployed on
the same servers where Production environment of IPAS is running. To ensure
availability of services to IPAS users, RESS is sometimes stopped. As of now
around 8 lakh Railway employees are registered with RESS. To ensure 24*7
availability of RESS Mobile App, efforts are being made to deploy it on a
separate Production environment. The same may be achieved within Financial
year 2019-20.

Q. While
making New Registration, I have entered Employee Number, Date of Birth and
Mobile Number but I did not receive Verification Code (OTP). What to do?

A. As per
TRAI guidelines, subscribers have to submit his/her on time consent for
receiving SMS alerts. To register for obtaining SMS alerts, please send below
text from your mobile number to

Q. My family
/ Leave details are not updated / wrongly updated. Please correct it.

ANS.  RESS Application displays data as available in
IPAS. Data in IPAS is entered/maintained by Pay bill clerk. In case of any
addition/deletion/correction, please approach your Pay bill clerk.

Q. I have updated my Mobile no. in RESS App, the
new mobile no. is showing in the bio-data section of RESS App. But,
the new mobile no.is not updated in Bio-Data under IPAS.

ANS.  Information of
Mobile Number/E-mail is available at 3 places:
i. In Bio-Data of
IPAS as updated by Pay Bill clerk. Ownership of this data lies with Pay bill
clerk.
ii. In
Profile section of IPAS, as updated by individual IPAS user for making his/her
User ID secure (OTP enabled).
iii. In
RESS, as updated by individual rail employee as RESS user.
Purpose
of all the 3 places is different and therefore it has not been combined.
